Install guide

Five steps, two warnings.

Android is careful with apps from outside the Play Store. These are the prompts you'll see, and exactly what to tap.

  1. 01

    Download the APK

Most phones want arm64-v8a, the big button above. Not sure? Pick universal, which works everywhere but is bigger.

  2. 02
    Chrome

    “File might be harmful”

Chrome shows this for every APK downloaded outside Google Play, whatever is inside. Want to check first? Compare the checksum below.

    TapDownload anyway

  3. 03

    Allow installs from this source

Open the file from the notification or your Downloads. Android asks once to let your browser install apps. Turn it on, then go back.

    TapSettingsAllow from this source

  4. 04
    Play Protect

    “Unsafe app blocked”

Play Protect is careful with apps it hasn't seen on Play. You can skip the scan prompt; ClipSave works either way.

    TapMore detailsInstall anyway

  5. 05

    Open ClipSave

Accept the terms on first launch, then share a link from any app. New versions arrive in the app, straight from GitHub.

The warnings are only there because ClipSave isn't on Google Play. The code is public, every release is built in the open, and every APK is signed with one key.

Read the transparency notes

Verify it (optional)

Check before you install.

  1. 01

    Get the files

Download the APK and SHA256SUMS.txt from the latest release.

  2. 02

    Check the checksum

    sha256sum ClipSave-1.2.0-arm64-v8a.apk

The value must match the line for your file in SHA256SUMS.txt.

  3. 03

    Check the signature

    apksigner verify --print-certs ClipSave-1.2.0-arm64-v8a.apk

The certificate SHA-256 digest must match the one below.

Signing certificate SHA-256

9e7ac24db911b702528987fc9d181ef06947123de56d8b26cb8b88b48f63aa59

Or build it yourself

If either check fails, don't install the file.

Something doesn't match? Report it.
