Is ClipSave free?

Yes. It is free and open source under GPL-3.0, with no ads and no paid tier.
Is it safe? Chrome says the file might be harmful.

Chrome and Play Protect warn about every APK from outside Google Play. ClipSave's source is public, releases are built by GitHub Actions, and you can verify the checksum and signing key before installing. Read the transparency notes.
Why isn't ClipSave on Google Play?

Google Play doesn't allow apps that download from sites like YouTube, or that update yt-dlp outside Play. ClipSave is published on GitHub Releases instead.
Which sites does ClipSave support?

YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), Reddit, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Pinterest, Dailymotion and more than 1000 other sites, through the open-source yt-dlp engine. See guides for each site.
Which APK should I download?

arm64-v8a for almost every phone. armeabi-v7a for older 32-bit phones, x86_64 for emulators and Chromebooks, and universal if you're unsure. Go to downloads.
What Android version do I need?

Android 10 or later.
Does ClipSave need root?
+
No. It is a normal app and needs no root, and no storage permission either.
Can I download YouTube playlists?
+
Yes. A link with list= opens a playlist sheet where you tick up to 100 videos per download, choose numbering and a quality cap. They save into a folder named after the playlist. YouTube guide.
Can I download audio only, like MP3?

Yes. Switch the quality sheet to Audio, or set Settings, Quality to MP3 for one-tap audio downloads. Audio goes to Music/ClipSave.
What video quality can I download?

Whatever the site offers, shown as up to four options with file sizes, for example 2160p (4K), 1440p, 1080p and 720p.
Do downloads keep going in the background?

Yes. Downloads run in a foreground service with a progress notification. You can pause, resume or retry from the Downloads tab, and partial files are kept.
Where are my files saved?

Movies/ClipSave for video and Music/ClipSave for audio, or any folder you pick in Settings.
How do I update ClipSave?

ClipSave checks GitHub Releases each time it opens and installs the right update for your phone. You can also add the repository to Obtainium.
A site stopped working. What should I do?

Open Settings, Other, Check for updates first, since sites change often. If it still fails, report a bug with the link. Report a bug.
Why do some Instagram or Facebook posts fail?

Many posts need you to be signed in. Use Settings, Accounts to sign in inside ClipSave. Only session cookies are stored, never your password.
Does ClipSave collect my data?

No. The app has no servers, analytics, ads or trackers. Files and history stay on your device. Privacy.
Can I download anything?

Only content you have the right to save, such as your own uploads, public-domain or openly licensed media, or content you have permission to keep. Terms of use.
