Last updated: 2026-10-29. These terms accompany the GPL-3.0-or-later license and do not reduce any of your rights under it.
ClipSave is a general-purpose tool that lets you save media from links you choose. The developers do not host, store, index, recommend, or supply any media, and ClipSave contains no catalogue of content. Every download is started by you, from your device, over your own connection.
1. You are responsible for what you save
By using ClipSave you agree that:
- You decide what to download, and you are solely responsible for it. The developers have no control over, and no knowledge of, what you save.
- Only save content you have the right to. That means content you own or created; content in the public domain or under a license that allows copying (for example Creative Commons); content the rights holder has given you permission to save; or content you are otherwise legally allowed to copy where you live (for example under a private-copy, fair-use or fair-dealing rule). Those rules differ by country, and many do not cover copying from an unauthorized source.
- You will follow the law and the terms of the sites you use. Copyright, database, anti-circumvention, privacy and computer-misuse laws, and the terms of service of Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, X and other services, may restrict downloading. Some services forbid it outright.
- You will not use ClipSave to circumvent DRM or other technical protection, bypass paywalls, logins or access controls you are not entitled to use, download content you are not authorized to access, infringe someone's rights, or redistribute others' work without permission.
- You are responsible for your accounts. If you sign in to Instagram or Facebook inside ClipSave, you do so at your own risk and in line with that service's terms. Sites may restrict or suspend accounts that use automated tools.
- You will not hold the developers responsible for your use of ClipSave, or for claims, losses or penalties that result from it, and you agree to bear any such consequences yourself, to the fullest extent the law allows.
If you cannot or do not agree to these points, do not use ClipSave.
2. No warranty, limited liability
ClipSave is free software provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authors and contributors are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability — direct, indirect, incidental or consequential, including loss of data, account suspension, or legal action by third parties — arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software. This repeats and does not replace sections 15–17 of the GPL-3.0. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (for example for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, where the law of your country does not allow it).
3. Independence and trademarks
ClipSave is an independent, community project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google/YouTube, Meta/Instagram/Facebook, TikTok, X, Vimeo, Reddit, Pinterest, Dailymotion or any other service. All names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to say which sites a link may come from.
4. How ClipSave works, and what it does not do
- Media extraction is performed by the open-source yt-dlp project, which ClipSave bundles and can update. The developers of ClipSave do not control yt-dlp or the sites it reads.
- ClipSave does not support DRM-protected streams and does not decrypt protected content.
- ClipSave has no servers and collects no personal data, analytics or usage statistics. Files are saved on your device. Optional sign-in cookies stay in the app's private storage until you sign out.
- The software may stop working for any site at any time, and is provided without support commitments.
5. Notices from rights holders
If you are a rights holder and believe this repository or release infringes your rights, contact sahedul.dev@gmail.com with: your contact details; identification of the work and of the material you say infringes it (a link to the file or page); a statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized; and a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner. Because ClipSave hosts no content and does not copy third-party works, please note what specifically in this repository you consider infringing. Notices that are not specific may not be actionable.
6. Changes
These terms may be updated; the version in the repository and in the app (Settings → Other → Terms) applies to the version of the app you installed. Using a later version means you accept its terms.
7. Other
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law where you live, and these terms are not legal advice. If a part of them is unenforceable where you live, the rest still applies.
